Your Flying Blue status and benefits

Your status gives you access to exclusive travel benefits throughout your journey.

How your status works

As a member of the Flying Blue loyalty program, the main way to get Experience Points (XP) is by flying. The length of your flight and your cabin type define how many XP you earn.

Your status depends on your total XP: the more XP you earn, the faster you move up in status.

Discover what each status level offers

Flying Blue has five status levels. Each level gives you access to specific travel benefits.

Keep track of your XP over time

You start earning XP with your first flight. From that point, you have 12 months to earn enough XP to move up or stay at your current status.

If you earn enough XP during that time, you are upgraded to the next status level. The XP required for that level are deducted, and any extra XP carry over. A new 12-month qualification period then begins.

If you do not earn enough XP by the end of your qualification period, you move down one level only. Your XP is then reset or adjusted depending on your status.

More ways to get XP

Collect XP in more ways than just flying to move up in status.

How XP is calculated

Flights with a connection earn more XP, as each flight is counted separately.

Example: On a direct long-haul 3 flight from Paris to San Francisco, you get 12 XP in Economy.

With a connection in Madrid, you get 12 XP for the long-haul 3 flight plus 5 XP for the medium-haul flight in Economy, for a total of 17 XP.

SAF Contribution

Earn 1 XP for every €10 or 2,000 Miles you contribute to SAF.

Example: (Paris CDG → Toronto-Pearson)

Choose your level of support and earn XP (examples below are not contractual, prices shown are valid at the date of May 14, 2025):

  • Option 1: €76 or 15,200 Miles – Reduce CO₂ by 100 kg -> Earn 8 XP

  • Option 3: €533.60 or 106,800 Miles – Reduce CO₂ by 730 kg -> Earn 54 XP
